Library Collection

At the core of the British School at Rome’s Library holdings is an outstanding collection of not only rare books, but also maps and prints, from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, as well as a small collection of drawings relating in particular to Rome and Italy.

The majority of these derive from the library of Thomas Ashby, who inherited his father’s passion for books and continued to add to the collection throughout his lifetime.
