This view of the bridge of August seen from the east is sketched from the mediaeval bridge built to replace it.
Signature, lower left: Drawn by J.M.W. Turner R.A. from a finish'd sketch by James Hakewill; lower right: Engrav'd by S. Middiman. The plate forms part of Hakewill's A picturesque tour of Italy, from drawings made in 1816-1817. The volume was published by John Murray in 1820 and was illustrated with 64 commissioned engravings that were made from Hakewill's drawings. Forms part of: Library Collection. Prints.
